I’m James Hutchings, the person behind byImprint. I work hands-on with AI every day: testing new models, building my own systems and working out where the technology earns its place in a business.
A working practice, out in the open.
My own business is where I do a lot of the testing. I use AI to work through code, shape and check designs, investigate information and build repeatable ways of getting work done. I then inspect the result, try the awkward cases and decide what is worth keeping.
That work gives me something concrete to bring to a client conversation: an approach I have used, the choices behind it and the places it can fail. The notes below show the work at that level.
Craft still matters.
I came to this work through fine furniture design. That habit of thinking about how something is made, how it feels to use and what happens after handover is still with me.
A model can produce a convincing first attempt very quickly. I care about whether the finished thing makes sense, holds together and helps the person using it. That applies to a website as much as an internal workflow.

byImprint brings together Practice, Research, The Worst Task Club and Core. Client delivery and my hands-on AI notes sit within the Practice; the Research has its own questions, methods and evidence.
